A very fun compressor

This was the first sentence in the first concept for Clean:
The idea behind this pedal is to make clean guitar as fun as overdriven guitar.
That concept was from early 2022. It was the first in at least a half dozen of them, and Clean looked nothing like this. We’ve been at it for a while. It was a hazy and mysterious goal, but it was a real interesting gateway to the world of compression
It’s kind of hard to believe it’s done.
Clean is a stereo, analog, two-stage compressor. It’s an exploration of just how far compression can go and it’s our first brand-new analog circuit in years.
It’s available to order now, worldwide, and we’ll start shipping November 1st.
You can find all the key info on the website, but I want to talk a bit about why we made this thing. It’s probably not what you think of when you imagine a compressor.
Why we did this
Because everybody has to play clean sometimes!
Distortion circuits are always bursting with color and character and interesting details, but there aren’t a lot of ways to spice up a clean signal. So we wanted to see if we could find some.
We wanted to create a companion for the clean performer, something to make it as fun and interesting as possible while maintaining the core character of your instrument. Something that captures that interactive push and pull you experience with dirt circuits.
That was the idea.
We strung together a bunch of different circuits and tried everything we could think of, and little by little a very unique compressor started to emerge.
About the pedal
Clean is a studio-grade compressor that you can turn on its head and shape with your playing. It swells, sags, smooths, pans, filters, and a whole lot more – all tied directly to your hands.
It’s quite different from our other pedals. It can get extreme, but the focus throughout development was on tasteful, musical enhancement. It’s about creating a more lively and interactive version of your instrument that feeds off of your choices. It gives you something to play off.
It also became a heck of a compressor over time. It’s got a bundle of refinements and features you usually don’t find outside of the studio.
