The Chase Bliss Mystery Box!

A *high value* holiday treat.

written by Mystery Box Joel

Alright folks!

We are doing some wild, mysterious, unprecedented stuff for the holidays this year so buckle in.

First things first:

From now through December 2nd, we are doing an old-fashioned 15% OFF SALE on most everything (excluding Clean and Billy Strings Wombtone), including items available on our legacy site. The discounts are automatic – no code required.

We are also offering some big, additional discounts for international customers. We feel that things haven't been exactly fair for our international friends because there are a subset of products we can't ship outside of the United States. The idea here is to re-establish some balance: in addition to the 15% off discount, we are also paying for 100% of any sort of customs fees or import fees or VAT on international orders. We are also giving free shipping on all orders over $198. In other words: 15% off, free shipping, no taxes. Please check out our website (or those of our partners if you live in Japan) and we think you will be very happy with the prices that you see.

Next, it is with lots of excitement that I am able to introduce to you:

The Chase Bliss Mystery Box!

I needed to get the help of local Minneapolis legend Fancy Ray McCloney in order to do it properly. Please watch this video below for the high points and then we can get into all the details.

What is the Chase Bliss Mystery Box?

I'm so hecking glad you asked. It costs roughly the equivalent of $299 worldwide and the worst thing that's going to happen if you buy it is that you get a random Chase Bliss pedal (valued at least $349) with some extraneous goodies. All Chase Bliss Mystery Boxes, at the very least, contain one Chase Bliss pedal (not EXP or any other utilities). One detail I should mention though is that the only pedals that we have that are listed at $349 are Dark World and Warped Vinyl HiFi and we actually don't have very many of those left, so chances are that you'll probably get a pedal worth $399 or higher.

But, there is much, much more.

Five Gold Pins.
This gets you our latest release, Clean, and every release we ever make in the future as long as we exist as a company (excluding limited-edition color variants). In other words, it's Bliss For Life. This is non-transferable.

Hand-painted.
We have eleven hand-painted pedals by the one and only Hannah Haugberg. We used to work together back in our ZVEX days and she is an absolutely amazing artist.

Rare & Discontinued.
We've gone around the shop and gathered up some of the oddities we've gathered over the years. Prototypes, low serial numbers, Chase Bliss pedals from yesteryore. Some of these are pretty dang  expensive in the secondary market.

Friends of Bliss.
Some Mystery Boxes will contain a bonus pedal from our friends, in addition to a Chase Bliss pedal. In conjunction with OBNE's most amazing Dark Star V3 release today, we'll be including 10 of those in an exclusive limited-edition colorway. We will also be including some pedals from our friends at Wren & Cuff, and other companies will be added to this list depending on how well the Mystery Box campaign goes. Stay tuned to our social feeds and newsletter as we add more friends to the Mystery Box fun. Again, at minimum, your Chase Bliss Mystery Box will always at least contain a Chase Bliss pedal.

Dirt Bird.
Last but not least, we are doing a Mystery Box exclusive pedal. These are limited to 250 units, not for sale independently, and can only be obtained from a Chase Bliss Mystery Box. The Dirt Bird is very similar to the original Condor pedal, but with one key difference: There is a particularly nasty distortion artifact that happens on original Condors (one of the reasons we made the Condor HiFi), but it was also a sound that I love. It turns out there's a "sweet spot" if you lower the headroom on that design far enough where it really just comes alive. Oddly enough, this might be my favorite pedal I've ever designed, even though it's very much a happy accident type of thing. Part of me feels bad that it's only available in this form, but Mystery Box Joel only cares about Mystery Box VALUE, so the other part of me is very happy with this arrangement. We made a short demo video to give you a feel for what this filthy little pedal is capable of.

This might be when international customers start feeling a little bit sad because if you are wondering if international customers can receive a Dirt Bird in their mystery box, the answer is no. However, Mystery Box Joel is here with some good news: Mystery Boxes will have free shipping and no import fees for international customers.

Please see the video below so we can discuss this IRL.

Well, that's it for now. If you are so inclined, please follow us on our social media platforms as I, Mystery Box Joel, have a lot of shenanigans planned for the next 12 days.

Quick FAQ:

  • We won't start shipping Mystery Boxes until December 3rd (first come, first serve) as we want all Mystery Box purchases to be eligible for all of the fun things we are going to add over the next 12 days.

  • Normal (non Mystery Box) orders will ship in our usual time frame of 1-3 business days.

  • The sale can also be applied to our legacy site.

  • No discount code is needed, discounts will be shown right on the site

  • 100% of import fees, duties, and taxes covered by Chase Bliss for international customers (including Mystery Box).

Thank you,
Mystery Box Joel
